Launching 2026   |   Greenwich Borough   |   Registering referral interest now
The Care Model
Built around recovery,
not dependency.

Every Serene home will operate within a consistent, recovery-focused framework delivered by specialist support workers trained specifically for mental health residential settings.

Recovery-focused care planning
Care plans will be built around each resident's individual recovery goals, not just risk management. Residents will be supported to build independence, maintain community connections, and develop the skills needed for longer-term resettlement in the community.
Trauma-informed practice
All support workers will be trained in trauma-informed care. The environment, daily routines, and relationships within each home will be structured to avoid re-traumatisation and actively support stabilisation.
De-escalation and risk
Staff will hold de-escalation certification and Mental Health First Aid qualification. Behaviour support plans will be developed in partnership with care coordinators and reviewed regularly against the individual care plan.
Clinical interface
Serene homes will work alongside, not instead of. National Health Service community mental health teams. Residents maintain their care coordinator relationships. We are a residential placement, not a clinical service.
Mental Health Act awareness
All staff will receive Mental Health Act awareness training as part of mandatory induction. Senior support workers will hold or be working towards Level 3 in Health and Social Care, mental health pathway.
Medication management
Support workers will be trained in medication administration and monitoring, aligned with prescribing team protocols. Residents access prescribing through their general practitioner or community mental health team.
Adult resident in a calm home environment
Our approach

A calm, structured
place to recover.

Regulation and Quality

Registered.
Compliant. Accountable.

Every Serene home will be registered with the Care Quality Commission as a residential care home for adults of working age with mental health needs, assessed under the CQC Single Assessment Framework. Our registration process is underway.

Safe
Safeguarding, risk, staffing, infection control
Effective
Care outcomes, evidence-based practice, staff competence
Caring
Dignity, compassion, person-centred relationships
Responsive
Individual needs, complaints, service design
Well-led
Governance, leadership, continuous improvement

All Serene homes are being built to meet these five standards from the point of registration. Our policies, procedures, and staffing model are being developed against the current CQC standards from the outset.
